[Seminar] Utilization of Wood-Based Biomass as a Renewable Energy Source

JFE Engineering Corporation: Its Options and Preparedness for Frequent Biomass Fires

Our company will hold a seminar titled "Guidelines for the Utilization of Wood-Based Biomass as a Renewable Energy Source." Biomass has gained attention since the introduction of the FIT system, but recently, doubts about its carbon neutrality (renewability) have arisen from an LCA perspective, and it is gradually losing its status year by year. On the other hand, as long as steam utilization in thermal power generation and heat utilization does not disappear, biomass, which can achieve carbon recycling with extremely high efficiency, is still considered a valuable option for decarbonization. In this lecture, we will focus on wood-based biomass, introducing the diversity of inputs (types of wood) and outputs (forms of energy), and discuss a power plant simulation using fast-growing biomass as an example of sustainability. Utilization of wood biomass using a solar drying system.

Drying wood chips with solar heat! We use panels with an efficiency of up to about 70%.

The "Solar Drying System" efficiently utilizes solar heat through heat collection panels installed on the roof to dry wood chips. By using the inexhaustible solar energy as a heat source for drying, it improves the energy balance for fuel production. The size of the drying facility can be set according to the processing capacity of the wood chips, allowing for the installation of facilities tailored to the site conditions. Wood Biomass Gasification Power Generation

Gasification power generation using wood biomass can be implemented on a small scale and is an efficient (high-profit) method of power generation. It is compact and highly efficient compared to conventional steam turbine power generation.
